With just under a week to go, the countdown is on until Easter! Over the coming few days, I’ll be sharing some of my top tips to survive the Easter season. From my favourite Easter jokes to activities for the kiddies and more, it’s time to have some fun. To kick things off, I’m starting with a few alternate Easter menu ideas (beyond hot cross buns and chocolate). What are you waiting for? Hop to it!

Try something new

Different countries and cultures celebrate Easter in different ways. Why not pick a country you love and follow their traditions. For example, in the USA, baked ham is often served. While in Italy, an Easter pizza (pizza chiena) is a traditional southern Italian pie with a variety of cheese, cold cuts and eggs in a bread crust that’s traditionally made on Good Friday for Easter Sunday.

A family cook-off

Let the games begin! Why not have a bit of fun and have an Easter cook-off with the family. Maybe even an Easter dessert competition where the kiddies can judge.

Brunch instead of lunch

Instead of a traditional Easter lunch, why not try a breakfast or brunch gathering with the family and literally make it all about the eggs!

 Great brunch ideas.

An autumn BBQ

The sun may have gone away, but never underestimate the humble BBQ. A great casual option, that can also save on the dreaded preparation time in the kitchen. Serve with some beautiful seasonal salads and watch everyone dig in!

Set a theme

Go all out with a theme that you can also carry through to the menu. With so many gorgeous Easter decorations, dress up your table like a pro with gorgeous Autumn colours, carrots, eggs, chickens and bunnies.

A helping hand

Let’s face it, there’s nothing enjoyable about being chained to the kitchen all day. Save on doing all the work yourself and get everyone to bring their ‘signature’ dish along to share. Watch out Sizzler…this will be all kinds of buffet goodness!
